Coach Guerra is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He has been teaching and coaching at Austin ISD for a number of years. His first stop in Austin was at Reagan High School, where he coached Freshmen Football and Freshmen Girls Basketball for several years before moving up to coach Reagan’s Junior Varsity Football and Girls Basketball teams. During his time at Reagan, he also coached Varsity and JV for Boys and Girls soccer.
He has spent the remainder of his career teaching and coaching at Bailey Middle School in Southwest Austin. At Bailey, he has taught Health and PE. Additionally, he has coached Football, Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball, as well as Track and Field. At this time, Coach Guerra is teaching PE, middle school health, and high school health. He is also currently coaching Football and Girl’s Basketball at Bailey.
In addition to teaching and coaching at Bailey Middle School, Coach Guerra is currently coaching Cross Country, Girl’s Basketball, and Girls’ Track and Field at Bowie High School and has been in this role for the last 6 years.
Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion. Coach Guerra has led his student-athletes to win City Championships in Football and Girl’s Basketball at Bailey Middle School. He has also assisted with taking individuals to the State Meet in Cross Country, making the playoffs in Girl’s Basketball, and has had at least one High Jumper qualify for Regionals during his time as a coach at Bowie High School.
